The mission of Friend of the Sea is the promotion of products from sustainable fishing and aquaculture. In accordance with the FAO Guidelines, Friend of the Sea has defined highly selective certification criteria. The assessments made by Friend of the Sea are conducted in the production companies by independent certification agencies, including Bureau Veritas and SGS, and with independent observers on board the vessels.

We only buy our fish from fishing vessels registered in the European Health Registry and not included in the IUU list (illegal fishing vessels).

DOLPHIN SAFE

We require our suppliers to provide fish only if originating from fishing vessels certified as Dolphin-Safe by the Earth Island Institute.

FISHING SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

All As do Mar branded tuna is produced in accordance with our rules for sustainable fishing.

Only the most selective and with the least impact.

We only use fish captured with methods that are the absolute most respectful of the marine ecosystem (pole & line fishing and purse seines on free schools, without the use of FADs), and we do not process tuna caught with longliners or driftnets, which result in high by-catch percentages.
