ASdoMAR products are Friend of the Sea certified, an independent organization whose mission is the promotion of fishing products and sustainable aquaculture.

Friend of the Sea was born with the aim of conserving and protecting the marine habitat, which today it promotes through the certification and promotion of products deriving from both fishing activities and sustainable aquaculture.

A virtuous path that follows the FAO Guidelines , and which is defined in the application of very strict and selective certification criteria.

The verifications carried out by FRIEND OF THE SEA are carried out in production companies by independent certification bodies, such as DNV and Rina , which are in turn verified by the national accreditation body, which in Italy is Accredia . Those on board the boats are entrusted to independent observers hosted on board .

FRIEND OF THE SEA CRITERIA FOR SUSTAINABLE FISHING

  • Stocks not overexploited in accordance with FAO guidelines, regional fisheries bodies and national marine authorities
  • No significant impact on the seabed
  • Selective fishing methods for reducing accidental catches by 8%
  • Exclusion from accidental catches of threatened species included in the IUCN Red List
  • Compliance with the rules regulating tools and fishing and minimum size of the catch
  • Energy and annual balance sheet improvement of fuel efficiency
